The Winding Wheel

The Winding Wheel is a theatre in Chesterfield UK. Known for its 1930s décor, oak panelling, traditional sprung dance floor, minstrels’ galleries and impressive stained glass dome ceiling.

This project was completed by Paul Clarke. He designed and installed a lighting truss hoist consisting of:

• Inverter Control for smooth operation on the truss.
• Electronic control of slack wire and overload.
• Central control pendant for ease of truss control.

We also designed and installed an extending stage:

• Inverter control of two motors used to drive the stage in and out to create a stage extension from the main stage.
• Mechanical guides used to raise the extending stage to main stage level during extension.
• Chain break monitoring and overload monitoring.
• Pendant based stage control.
