Sadler’s Wells is a world-leading creative organisation dedicated to dance in all its forms. Audiences of over half a million come to their London theatres each year, with many more enjoying their touring productions at venues across the UK and around the world. Sadler’s Wells commissions and presents more new dance work than any other theatre in the world.
This project was completed by Paul Clarke. He designed and installed a control upgrade for the orchestra lifts, consisting of the following:
• The removal of the existing control system.
• The use of absolute encoders for accurate position control
• Full synchronization between the three orchestra lifts.
• Fixed deads as well as user programmable deads.
• Wireless and wired control points, both with touchscreen facility.
• Easy redundancy with a switchable, spare inverter.
• Safety system upgrade with more safe edge diagnostic reporting.

• The upgrade of the variable speed drive system.
• The upgrade of the on-stage safety system with light beams.
• New control system for greater reliability.
